LIFE AND ITS PURPOSE

Nowadays there are many books published and lectures delivered regarding the purpose of life or how to find life’s meaning. This is mostly aimed at doing what a person loves. For example: somebody who loves to teach would say that they found purpose in life by teaching.
However, not everyone who is employed is happy with what they do. Most adults have given up on their dreams so that they can settle for a decent job and pay. Therefore, with this continuous search to find such purpose, many adults are left feeling alone and anxious.
Humans have become so engrossed in finding value in life that they have completely forgotten the luxury of having less chaos which I feel is more important than anything else. If someone has found his or her purpose in life by doing a rewarding job but has constant chaos and problems in life, can we say that the person has found life’s purpose?
Even though most books and lectures focus on having a fulfilling career to fuel your purpose in life should we follow all these advice without giving it any thought? And do we believe that all these authors and lecturers have found their purpose? Maybe they have or maybe they have not, yet, we compare our lives to what they portray of themselves in front of a big audience.
You could be a qualified professional who finds peace in being a stay-at-home parent or you could be a person who wants to work all day as constant working encourages you to become a better version of yourself. Different people have different goals and aims in life. Therefore, our purpose in life is different from others. Mother Theresa found treating the needy and the poor to be her purpose in life whilst many excellent doctors treat patients with financial means to consult them. Who are we to say who is right and who is wrong?
Our main purpose in life should be happiness (even if it means doing absolutely nothing or filling up your diary with work for twelve hours). Nothing is as important as being at peace. Therefore, next time you find yourself feeling anxious about your future and your purpose in life, think to yourself whether you are comparing yourself to your colleagues because we all have our journey. No matter where you are in life, if you are not happy, nothing else matters.
